Gray Eagle Golf Course

TEESHEET with HOLE STARTS 051525

TEESHEET 051525

Everything you need to know for this season

  • YOUR WEEKLY RESERVATION IS PREPAID FOR EVERY ROUND Every week registered league players will receive an email with a link to Gray Eagle Club Caddie payment app and will prepay for the rounds they would like to play. Players can play as few or as many weeks as they like. Once the transaction is complete with Gray Eagle through the club caddie link, the round is NON REFUNDABLE but is transferrable. Consider this a concert ticket. You can resell it to other Geist Golf members, but there are no refunds or deferred rounds. Be sure your partners have also purchased their round. You will receive a confirmation email once you sign up for the round. Rounds are purchased through Gray Eagle and Geist Golf only receives the WEEKLY paid report right before our algorithm assigns pairings. If there is a question about whether your round is paid for, you will reach out to Gray Eagle, we at Geist Golf would not know "if your payment went through last night." The night before your round, you will receive a "pairing" confirmation email. This email confirms your payment for play and who you will be paired with for the round and this comes from info@geistgolf.com.. The day of play you will receive an email with a link to the "teesheet." (This will also be posted on our website). The final teesheet shows the pairs, your cart assignment and which hole your group will start on for that round. Geist Golf makes pairings, assigns cart numbers and completes the teesheet.  If you are choosing NOT to play that week, there is no need to notify Geist Golf, simply do not sign up. DO notify your partners so they aren't surprised when another player is plugged into your position. If you are a member of Gray Eagle Club, you will receive a specific code to sign up with every week.
  • PLAYER PAIRINGS- When you completed your player profile, you requested partner pairings. If these pairings change throughout the season, please notify Beth, info@geistgolf.com otherwise paid players for the current week will be grouped as directed in profiles. We always have foursomes so if someone is missing from your group I will add a single player.
  • PLAY COMMENCES  EXACTLY at 6:00 p.m. on your assigned night. A shotgun start is where play commences at a specific time (6:00 pm) and there are assigned foursomes on every hole, sometimes multiple groups start on the same hole (A Group goes first, B Group goes second). We only play nine holes.   You can choose each week whether to opt in for play. If you sign up and pay Gray Eagle by Sunday night, you are a confirmed player for either Wednesday or Thursday of that week. There are NO refunds for prepaid weeks. So if you sign up on Sunday but then the soccer game got moved to Wednesday you do not receive a refund. You can sell that round to another player (we have a group page on Facebook to make that easier). If Gray Eagle cancels golf due to severe weather (typically only lightning or torrential rain), you will receive a raincheck for a future week’s play of your choice.
  • CHECK IN PROCESS DAY OF PLAY - Last year we implemented a seamless "direct to your cart" check in process, so there is no in person "check in." You will receive an email with a link to the teesheet for your date of play. Your partner names, golf cart assignment and hole start will all found on the teesheet. No need to go into the clubhouse unless you need purchase snacks for the round! Simply go straight to your assigned cart, just like a Hertz Preferred car rental customer! Please communicate with your partners (if you have a regular group) should you have a last minute change for the night so they aren't wondering where you are.
  • BEST BALL SCRAMBLE FORMAT Geist Golf plays "recreational golf" meaninng we do not record scores or use scorecards as is the practice with strokeplay. Every play drives the ball from the ladies tees (red) and then the entire group advances to where the "best ball" lies. This process is repeated until you reach the green and putt the ball into the hole. The maximum number of shots per hole should never exceed the par shown for the hole. You can reference the scorecards to know the par for a specific hole. Example if hole 2 is a par 4, there should never be more than 8 attempts to reach the hole. That means 8 shots per player for the hole including putts. The entire group moves together throughout the hole to wherever the last shot was best played. This ensures "pace of play" continues quickly. If a hole is frustrating, you can always abandon mission and move on.
  • "PLAYING THROUGH" - If you are not a complete newbie you may have heard this phrae used on a golf course. If a group is playing slow it is not uncommon to allow the group behind to "play through." THIS IS NOT A PRACTICE USED AT GEIST GOLF. Reason one, we all play slow. If you are an advanced fast player, this may not be the group for you. Reason two, we play a full course scramble so there are groups on every hole. Advancing early to the next hole will only have you waiting.
  • NAVIGATING HOLES FOR A 9 HOLE SCRAMBLE  We only play nine holes, Geist Golf has the entire course and Gray Eagle has 2 9 hole courses. If you are starting on hole 9, your next hole is 1 (you stay on the same 9) and would finish on hole 8 for that round. If you are starting on hole 18, your next hole would be hole 10 and you would finish on 17. Please ask if you have questions!
  • COMMUNICATION There is only one way to notify Geist Golf about pairing information, last minute cancels, questions; by emailing info@geistgolf.com. Do not call, text, facebook message for any reason. All messages related to weekly play go directly to that inbox. Our new technology advisor is remote out of state and this shared inbox is the best way to aggregate all timely messages. I really need to have "one point of contact" for all Geist Golf matters. If you have questions about whether or not a payment was accepted while signing up to play via your club caddie link, you may call Gray Eagle Golf Course at 317-845-2900.
  • GEIST GOLF DISCOUNTED RATE this year is $30 for 9 holes and includes your cart. Our play is cart only, your round fee includes the cart and walking is not allowed to ensure pace of play is swift. There can only be 2 players per cart, no exceptions,
  • GRAY EAGLE CLUBHOUSE will likely be under construction during our season and some operations will default to their construction trailer. Beverages and snacks are offered through Gray Eagle, inlcuding alcohol. They do a terrific job of stocking your favorites, so just ask! Indiana law prohibits any golfer bringing their own alcohol to the course. Feel free to bring your own water or other snack.
  • PERSONAL LIABILITY - Geist Golf is a social club whose core mission is to organize social activities and golf rounds. All personal liability and risk reside with the individual golfer. Be very aware of your surroundings and cautious of other golfer's and property while playing the game of golf.
  • RAINCHECK POLICY - Most golfers play in light rain, wind and inclement weather. Our rounds are only canceled if lightning is active during play. Rainchecks are issued solely at the discretion of Gray Eagle, NOT Geist Golf. If you are unwilling to play in inclement weather, check the forecasts prior to prepaying for your round. It is unfair to Gray Eagle for Geist Golf to consume the tee times and cancel late because of weather. Our male counterparts (who would love to have our coveted tee times) gladly play through the drizzle and cold!
  • LOST AND FOUND - You know what new golfers do a lot? Leave important things on the previous hole! Cell phones, wallets, keys, and of course golf clubs. If you find anything please pick it up and drop off at clubhouse at the end of your round. The clubhouse collects lost and found items. You can also email info@geistgolf.com with a photo of the found item. I will place it on social and in communications so it is quickly retrieved.
  • 19th Hole! - Most weeks we celebrate after golf on Wednesdays and call it 19th Hole - should probably be 10th Hole! Golfers who golf both Wednesday and Thursday are welcome to join us and the venue changes from week to week.

Some Geist Golfers brought a friend or found a friend to partner with last year. Some of the best times we enjoyed were mixing pairs. If you don't select a partner, you'll be paired each week.
